Hello Haines Community! Who is excited for Wednesday February 12th? I know I am
That is when I am reopening. (happy dance)…THIS WEDNESDAY!!
Thank you all for your patience. PLEASE READ the below policies; there are only a few changes most is the same.
IMPORTANT NOTE:…..When I open I will NOT be accepting Clothes or shoes (and for some time) This is what I still have an abundance of. I am already using up too much inventory stock room space on clothes. Thank you for understanding!
(now the rules)
Consignment / Donation Drop off rules
–>Drop-off hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11am-2pm (the store is open till 3 but drop off stop at 2. In addition, typically there are no drop-offs in the last full week of the month. This is to allow extra time for the store to price items that have come in for the month. Look for signs and the monthly calendar by the store’s door.
–>The store will accept ONE Box a month per household. This allows equal opportunity to the entire community. Your “box” is what fits into the store’s tote; for equality and storage purposes. An apple box pictured below is a good size for the store’s size tote; also pictured. Good rule to follow is if the box is too big or to heavy for your to carry, you need a smaller box.
****The only exception to the “one box per household” rule are if kids have their own account. When this occurs the items in the box must be kid items and not a way for the consignee to bring in more than one box a month. I allow this to teach kids the value of letting things go and the joy on their face when they see the money they can make. When kids have their own account their box and the parent’s box of items must be brought in on different days, preferably a different week.
–>Clothes is limited to one IGA paper bag. ALL clothes must be clean with no stains or rips and freshly washed. If not washed, they will not be accepted. The store will be selective on women’s. Clothes will be priced to sell and become property of Talia’s Treasures after 3 months. ***Freshly washed refers to only being able to smell laundry detergent.
–>The Commission split is 50/50. 50% of the purchase price to you and 50% to the store (*subject to change in future)
–>ALL Items must be free from dust, dirt, cigarette smoke, garage sale stickers, and odors. ALL electronics & appliances must be clean & in working condition.
–>You are required to stay at the counter as I go through your box. I will be selective, and you may be asked to take items back home; please do not take offense. There is a list of items I am not accepting at the store; however, it will continue to grow. Keep the items seasonal. For example, no Christmas in March and no winter clothes accepted in the summer (and visa-versa).
–>No drop-offs last FULL week of each month AND closed last Saturday of the month. Look for signs at store and on Face-Book.
–>Items go on sale after 1 month, and the longer items are on the shelves the more of a discount applied. There is no set sliding scale, it is up to the store owner to decide the discount. Items can also be disposed of if not selling. The store owner can also ask the consignee to pick up items instead of disposing of them. After 6 months if an item is still on the shelf the store has the right to drastically discount the item to get it sold. After 12 months the item(s) becomes the property of Talia’s Treasures. It is the consignee’s responsibility to remove an item if they do not want this to occur.
–>After 2 years of no action on your account, any credit on the consignee account will default to the store.
–>Although we do consign antiques, we are not antique dealers. Therefore, it is the consignee’s responsibility (you) to place a reasonable sell price in your box for the consignor (the store) to review and price accordingly. If there is no price provided, we will do our best to assign a fair price. The store may not have ample time to research the item.
–>Talia’s Treasures would hope that theft would not occur, however, the store is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
Thank you for your understanding regarding the above. These rules are in place to help me better serve you and provide QUALITY items at a reasonable price. On average I receive anywhere between 70-100 drop offs a month. When I close at 3 I typically am staying til about 5 or 5:30 pricing items. If I were open till 5 I wouldn’t have anytime to price your treasures (LOL)
In January when I am closed and I go through inventory on the floor, this gives me the opportunity to see what sells and what doesn’t sell to help me only accept the items the community wants.
Thank you as always for your love and support!

This is a lot of info; I will have flyers at the store (once printed) and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!
Again thank you, if not for your support and your treasures I would not be able to be here, and I love this job. Not only do I get to see your smiling faces, it gives me the freedom to deal with family situations as they arise!
