Port Chilkoot Distillery is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious, and self-driven individuals that can provide friendly and engaging customer service to all patrons who visit our tasting room establishment. Regular weekly work schedule will be a 6-8 hour shift, scheduled between the hours of 10am-10pm, 3-5 days a week. Applicants with previous service experience are preferred but will train the right candidates.

Job Description

The Tasting Room Host will open, operate, and/or close the Tasting Room for designated hours, providing visitors with a fun, comfortable, and informative experience. They will prepare and serve product samples and custom cocktails, maintain cleanliness and order, engage visitors to provide information about the products and distillery, and ensure legal requirements are followed in the tasting room. They will work with other bartenders and report directly to the Tasting Room Manager.

Job Expectations

  • Provide customers with detailed information about the distilled spirits, how they are produced, and how they taste
  • Build rapport with guests to provide information and interesting information about our spirits, our business, and the community of Haines
  • Prepare and serve mixed cocktails, spirits samples, and non-alcoholic drinks
  • Set up Tasting Room at the beginning of shift
    • Including but not limited to: Setting up tables and seating, juicing citrus, making syrups, preparing liquor infusions, cleaning, stocking ice, and polishing glassware
  • Clean up and close Tasting Room at the end of the day
    • Including but not limited to: cleaning barware, getting items prepped for following day, sweeping, and mopping
  • Encourage sales of bottles and distillery merchandise
  • Ensure legal requirements for tasting rooms are being adhered to.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Service industry experience in hospitality, retail, or bartending preferred.
  • Highly-skilled in customer service, communication, presentation and sales.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Have or be able to qualify for a TAP card.
  • Must be able to work independently, without supervision.
  • Must be available to work weekends and event days.
  • Standing and walking for an extended period.
