Nadahini was good skiing on 12/31/11, wind blown on parts but the snow was good. A wind layer was evident under 2 inches of fresh snow. Broke trail on Mulford's road on up to the treed ridgeline above the pond. Snow was VERY heavy and it took 5 people to forge the path. Point releases evident above the pond, and there was evidence of debris at the bottom of the avalanche chutes. Tree skiing was good but pick a steep pitch, as the snow was incredibly heavy with a rain layer that was present almost to the tree line.

Tried to ski Nadahini Sunday the 4th. Wind had pulled most of the snow off of the mountain and left it in the gullies. Had terrible flat lighting conditions and was blowing hard. The alder skiing was fun but other than that, may need more time.

Hiked with seven lively middle schoolers up to the microwave tower to establish a geocache. Trails are pretty muddy, especially the lower end of the Ridge Trail, with water flowing over the rocky gullies in places. Always worth it, though, right? Xtra Tufs recommended.

Hiked Skyline Trail to North Summit of Mt. Ripinsky. Wonderful sunshine and beginning of wildflowers. Most of the alpine knolls are flowing with runoff through mid-day. Lots of snow patches to navigate--bring extra socks to change into. Tried to cross to 7-Mile Saddle trail but there are extensive snow banks still. Huge brown bear tracks traversing that stretch.

I did some trailbreaking/skiing/slogging up to Seven Mile Saddle on Dec. 1st. The snow was knee to waist-deep and very light, but there was no real base underneath. Skiing down below the saddle was fun but a little sketchy with all the hidden logs. One or two good storms and conditions should be real nice. No real avy conditions to report, since the snow is mostly only one layer below 2000ft.
