Pretty stable, just the usual sluff on steeper angles to consider. Don't be fooled by the weather in the valley the sun is out at least till Fri night.

Look out for wind-loaded pockets to rip out on anything South-ish facing. This is true for the five-mile creek area and snowmachine land in pass. Still good snow in the trees, a little wind-buffed up high...

Mixed conditions at 5-mile creek on Saturday 23rd. Some thin slab from north wind but mostly soft boot top snow in the lee. Weaker rain layer 60 cm from surface but rounded and bonding (failed at ct 20). Overall good conditions with a fair bit of skier pack. Enjoy and watch for steeper wind loaded areas.

Rain at border station, turning to wet snow at 5 mile creek. Snow is good, visability poor. top layer of snow approx. 10 inches not fused to base and prone to slide. Beacons are a must. pillows of goodness up high.

Five Mile Creek has a small layer of crust. Lots of tracks. Pit yielded two layers which fractured on a shovel test. A rain layer at 30 cm from the ground and another layer at 90 cm from the ground. It took 4 slaps of the shovel to get the 90 cm layer to fracture. It took another 3-5 slaps to get the 30 cm layer to fracture. Total snow pack of that pit was 120 cm. (Observations from pit courtesy of Andy.)

Three Guardsmen on Sunday had a 1.7 meter base of great powder. The layers were all one type of snow-powder, but did fail on an AK block test as the skier approached the block. The layer that slid was 30-40 cm from the surface. No apparent rain damage as of yet, nor has there been a heavy wind presence on the layers. Nice pow all the way down to ground level. With compaction the last 30 cm.

Couldn't resist being the first to write. Snow is perfect for fort construction. Time to inventory the skis and snowshoes and fit the kids!
