The Arts in Haines
This page contains basic info and links about arts in the Upper Lynn Canal, including Haines, Klukwan and the rest of the Chilkat Valley:
Haines Arts Council
For more than twenty years, the Haines Arts Council, a non-profit, volunteer
organization, has been supporting the arts and bringing a variety of
world-class performers to the Chilkat Valley.
KHNS Radio 102.3 FM
KHNS shows are hosted primarily by volunteers from the community. The station also serves as Haines, Skagway and Klukwan's life-blood by providing National Public Radio news programming, Listener Personals, community calendar, and weather information. Call the station at 907-766-2020 or use the KHNS fax (766-2022) to send your Radio Marketplace items, Listener Personals, and Community Calendar items. Other communications can also be emailed to the staff at KHNS: khns@khns.org, but email should not be used for items with deadlines, such as Listener Personals and community announcements.
Chilkat Center
The Chilkat Center for the Arts is the major auditorium for many community events. The Chilkat Center is also the home of KHNS radio.

Local Bands and Musicians
Folks in the Chilkat Valley are regularly entertained by local bands:

Burl Sheldon:
Local singer/songwriter Burl Sheldon wrote a song about Haines entitled "Heartbeat", and it's included on his new CD "Busy Makin' Money". You can listen to soundclips at http://www.burlsheldon.com
