Destination Haines, Tickets, etc.

BY AIR . . . . Haines is served by three small airlines out of Juneau: LAB Flying Service; Haines Airways and Wings of Alaska. All three airlines have offered special airfares for those attending ACTFEST. Contact the airline directly to receive these fares. These airlines also provide complimentary service between the airport and hotels.

BY WATER . . . The Alaska Marine Highway System servers Haines from Bellingham and all ports in Southeast Alaska -- a scenic and relaxing way to travel. The Alaska Marine Highway reservations 1-800-544-2251 (within AK, 800-551-7185).

BY ROAD. . . The Haines Highway is an excellent highway--very scenic, well maintained. It is about a 15 hour drive to Haines from Anchorage, less than that from Fairbanks. It is important to remember that the U.S. Customs closes at 11:00 PM (AST) and doesn't open again until 7:00 AM.

NOTE: Once in Haines, everything is within walking distance, so you really don't need a car, however about three rental car agencies are available in Haines.

Where to Stay

Most ACTFEST participants stay at the historic Hotel Halsingland located in Fort Seward because of its proximity to the theatre Chilkat Center for the Arts. The Hotel also offers special rates for ACTFEST members and participants. For information and reservations 1-800-542-6363 or (907) 766-2000.

Haines also boasts many fine B&Bs, condominiums and full service motels. Please use the Haines Convention and Visitor's Bureau website to find out more about getting to and staying in Haines.
